Maison JE Bangkok is proud to present Within, a group exhibition featuring artists from Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and Spain: AAMY, ART JEENO, DEBBIE REDA, KEITO TOKOI, NOINAH, SE OH, TING YUAN, and WARHEAD. Bringing together nine artists with distinct artistic voices and perspectives, the exhibition invites audiences to look beyond what is immediately visible and discover the unique worlds revealed through each artist’s works on paper.

Within brings together drawings, watercolors, text-based works, and other paper-based practices to explore the expressive possibilities of paper as an artistic medium. Here, paper is no longer understood merely as a surface for recording ideas or preparing for a painting. Instead, it becomes the very place where artworks come into being, where thoughts, emotions, memories, and imagination gradually take form and exist as complete works in their own right.

Although all ten artists work with the same medium, each approaches paper through a distinctive visual language, artistic sensibility, and way of thinking. Every work becomes an invitation to slow down, observe more closely, and move beyond first impressions. As audiences spend time with each work, subtle details begin to reveal themselves, opening new ways of seeing and discovering meanings that are not immediately visible.

Paper has often been regarded as a preliminary medium—a place for sketches, studies, or preparation before a finished painting. The exhibition, however, approaches works on paper as complete artworks in their own right. The texture of the surface, the presence of empty space, and the traces left by the artist’s hand become inseparable elements of each work. Within these often modest dimensions reside landscapes, emotions, memories, and imagination, condensed into distinct visual experiences.

More than a presentation of works on paper, Within invites audiences to look deeper into what lies beneath the surface, exploring not only the worlds contained within each artwork, but also the artists’ creative processes and perspectives, as well as their own perceptions and experiences.

About the Artists

AAMY

A Japanese illustrator born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1992. After graduating from Tokyo Zokei University with a degree in graphic design, she worked as a graphic designer before becoming a full-fledged illustrator in June 2020. She has worked on books, advertisements, and music artwork, and has participated in numerous exhibitions. With a delicate touch, she depicts various fantasy worlds in a gentle pop style.

ART JEENO

ART JEENO, or Piyaphach Jeeno (born 1987), is a Thai artist and manga creator who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University. His works explore emotions, vulnerability, and the inner world of humanity through a delicate visual language. Beginning his career in manga, Art Jeeno has gradually expanded his practice into contemporary art, presenting his works in solo and group exhibitions, including Float (2025) at River City Bangkok. He has received international recognition through three Japan International Manga Awards and his acclaimed manga series Juice, which was published and distributed in France.

DEBBIE REDA

DEBBIE REDA is a contemporary artist born in Argentina in 1976. She lives and works between Madrid, Spain, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her works combine Pop Art with cartoon-inspired imagery, creating imaginative worlds through her characters, “The Boppis,” which reflect innocence, humor, and the joy of childhood. Her works have been exhibited in Spain, France, the United States, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan, and are held in both public and private collections.

KEITO TOKOI

KEITO TOKOI (born 2001) is a Japanese artist from Saitama Prefecture and a graduate of the Department of Oil Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, Musashino Art University. Her works explore the relationship between space, memory, and perception through the motif of “windows,” as well as elements such as light, shadow, and empty space, to express emotions that cannot be articulated through words. Her works have been exhibited in Japan, Thailand, and Singapore, including First Sight at Gallery CURU, Bangkok, Art Fair Asia Fukuoka, and Affordable Art Fair Singapore.

NOINAH

NOINAH, or Suriya Uthairatsamee, is a Thai cartoonist and contemporary artist best known for his work in Kai Hua Roh magazine. He later expanded his practice into contemporary art through his signature character, LonelyPop, which explores loneliness and human relationships in the digital age through a simple, warm, and emotionally resonant visual language. His works have been exhibited in Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, the United States, and Australia, and he has presented solo exhibitions including Words and Pictures (2014), Lonely Together (2023), and Puzzle Dreamland (2026).

SE OH

SE OH (born 1984) is a Korean artist from Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, who lives and works between Los Angeles and Seoul. Drawing from his experience of growing up in the United States, his works explore themes of identity, memory, and the experience of living between two cultures. His works have been presented in international exhibitions, including at the Asian Culture Center and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), as well as in a solo exhibition at Tang Contemporary Art Bangkok in 2025.

TING YUAN

TING YUAN (袁婷) earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fiber Art from the China Academy of Art and a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art Practice from the University of Edinburgh. Her works depict a gentle world through childlike characters and imagery inspired by childhood, exploring themes of growth, relationships, and the inner experiences of human beings. Her works have been exhibited in China, the United Kingdom, and Scotland, as well as in various international exhibitions.

WARHEAD

WARHEAD, or Nattapol Suriyawarakul (born 1991), is a Thai artist and illustrator who graduated with a degree in Media Art from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT). His works are centered around his signature character MON, reflecting personal memories and interests inspired by toys, animation, video games, and pop culture from the 1990s and 2000s. He has been exhibiting his works since 2012 and has collaborated with international brands including Nike, Levi’s, Disney, Fanta, Tiger Beer, Singha Corporation, SangSom, TrueMoney, and GMM Grammy.

Thegroup exhibitionWithin will be on view from 21 August – 11 October 2026 at Maison JE Bangkok, Surawong Road, Si Phraya, Bang Rak, Bangkok. The gallery is open Tuesday–Sunday, 11:00 AM-7:00 PM (Closed Mondays). Admission is free.
